Kankowski
Frontend tech lead turning long-lived legacy products into modern, AI-native engineering organisations.
Senior frontend engineer and team lead with 8+ years, embedded with international clients through Jit Team, across HR, logistics, energy, finance and healthcare. I lead a frontend team of six inside a 40+ engineer program — modernising a six-year-old platform on a modern React / Node stack — and I build the AI workflows that change how teams actually ship: multi-agent automation and AI-assisted delivery across the whole SDLC.
I'm Maciej Kankowski, a frontend tech lead based in Gdynia, Poland. For 8+ years I've built enterprise-class web platforms for international clients through Jit Team — across logistics, energy, finance, healthcare and HR. I care about two things in equal measure: shipping maintainable software and making teams faster. Lately that means rebuilding a large legacy product on a modern React/Node stack while wiring AI-native, multi-agent workflows into how the team plans, writes and reviews code.

- Lead a team of 6 frontend engineers within a 40+ engineer program spanning frontend, backend and QA — part of the platform's technical leadership group.
- Driving modernisation of a 6+ year legacy application into a maintainable, component-driven React / Node architecture.
- Re-engineered the release process for faster, safer and more frequent deployments.
- Embedding AI-native workflows — multi-agent automation and AI-assisted code generation & review — across the SDLC to accelerate delivery and lift quality.
Beyond using AI to autocomplete, I design the systems around it — turning models into reliable teammates inside a real delivery pipeline.
Multi-agent workflows
Orchestrating specialised agents — planning, implementation, review, test — that hand off work and keep humans in the loop where it matters.
AI in the SDLC
AI-assisted generation, refactoring and code review wired directly into branching, CI and the release process — not bolted on after the fact.
Legacy, accelerated
Using agentic tooling to map, document and incrementally modernise a large, long-lived codebase without freezing delivery.
Team enablement
Defining the patterns, guardrails and review culture that let a whole team adopt AI safely and consistently — raising the floor, not just the ceiling.
Delivered as part of Jit Team — a Gdynia software-engineering consultancy that embeds dedicated teams with international clients. Clients are generalised by industry below.
Global logistics control tower
Cloud-native web client for a world-class stock-transfer platform spanning the entire EMEA region, with AI-assisted load recommendations. Owned E2E testing — cutting defects ~40% — and helped unlock ~€60k/month and ~1.5h/day in planning savings.
District-heating infrastructure
Greenfield internal platform with map-based 3D visualisations. Joined as the first engineer on the account and helped grow it into ~5 parallel workstreams (~20 people); led interactive UI/UX prototyping.
Bond & debt-documentation platform
Modernised a security-critical financial system over ~2 years; design-system-aligned work seeded 3 new products. Drove frontend performance and guarded the release process as Scrum Master.
Digital health & wearables platform
Led a small team delivering a health-sector web app and integrating wearable health data, taking it from MVP to production; ran AWS-based builds and deployments.
Earlier in my career I also shipped native mobile apps (iOS / Swift, Android / Kotlin) and full-stack web — useful context, but the work above is where I focus today.
A couple of things I also do, beyond the engineering day job:
Business-card websites
I design and build fast, mobile, SEO-ready sites for local businesses — nurseries, guest houses, seaside rentals, services. Full service: design, content, launch and hosting.
